1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Tuesday, October 15th. Today is the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, but it is important that we continue to recognize and celebrate the impact of Hispanic culture in our daily lives. Remember that diversity in our schools is one of our greatest strengths. Let’s all take time to learn from each other’s cultures and celebrate the unique contributions that make our community special. We are stronger when we embrace and celebrate the richness of our differences!
2. Keep walking right and talking right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Cell phones and wireless earbuds should be stored away and out of sight the entire school day, even during lunch. Please clean up after yourself or others at lunch and remain seated in the cafeteria so we can experience all of honor time. Bring your student ID to lunch and scan in to ensure the lunch line moves as quickly as possible.
3. This week is Nutrition Services Appreciation Week. We invite you to take a moment this week to show appreciation for our amazing nutrition services staff, Mrs. Teri and Mrs. Janel! Give them a shoutout and a thank you as you get breakfast and lunch this week and remember how far a simple please and thank you go.
4. Thank you for participating and engaging with Justin Washington yesterday. This time set a foundation and a call to action within our school to recognize the power of our words and to use them to promote belief in each other. Promoting inclusivity and not participating in hate speech or microaggressions is crucial to developing a sense of belonging in our school and district. We may always have differing opinions or beliefs, but we can always remain grounded in acceptance, kindness, and care for each other. Let's continue to pursue excellence and find ways to build each other up every single day. Words matter and character counts.
5. Our soccer and volleyball take on the Falcons of Harbor Ridge today at home. Remember that you may not leave campus and return for after-school activities and to cheer positively for our team and not against the other team. Let's continue to display positive sportsmanship and encourage our student-athletes toward the pursuit of excellence.
6. Wrestling and all sports registration is open. We are excited to begin the Wrestling season this coming Monday, October 21st. Wrestling is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. Come on out and join the team, no prior experience necessary.
Let's make it a great day and continue to display kindness and respect toward all members of our school community!
