10/18/24
1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Friday, October 18th. During the month of October, we recognize and grow in Disability Awareness and Bullying Prevention Month. This is a time for our school and district to increase understanding, respect, and acceptance of people with disabilities and continue to work toward prevention efforts connected to harassment, intimidation, and bullying. On Monday we communicated that words have power. It is crucial to use our words to build each other up, to be inclusive of students with disabilities, and to support a school culture centered on belonging. It is also important to remember that we all have a role to play. Harassment, intimidation, and bullying are not tolerated and it is crucial to report these situations to teachers, counselors, or administrators. You can fill out an incident report in the office, send an email, or report verbally, but the key is that if you see something, say something. Let's continue to band together to create a school culture we can be proud of and that celebrates our uniqueness and diversity.
2. Keep walking right and talking right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Cell phones and wireless earbuds should be stored away and out of sight. Please remember that 4th period classes are in session after 1st lunch and before 2nd lunch, so please make a quiet transition. Bring your student ID to lunch and scan in to ensure the lunch line moves as quickly as possible.
3. Today we wrap up nutrition services appreciation week. We invite you to take a moment beyond this week to show appreciation for our amazing nutrition services staff, Mrs. Teri and Mrs. Jenelle! Give them a shoutout and a thank you as you get breakfast and lunch this week and remember how far a simple please and thank you go.
4. Soccer and volleyball had their final matches yesterday at Kopachuck. Our student athletes performed well and continued to make us proud. We are so grateful for the athletes and coaches that made this a fantastic fall season of growth, effort, and perseverance. The Cross Country Championships are today at Sehmel Homestead Park at 3:30 pm. Come on out and enjoy the PR fest. Let's continue to encourage our student athletes toward the pursuit of excellence.
5. Wrestling and all sports registration is open. We are excited to begin the Wrestling season this coming Monday, October 21st. Wrestling is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. Come on out and join the team, no prior experience necessary.
6. Today is Frosty Friday and the Cougar Pride Store will be open. Remember to be seated at your table and raise your hand for a pass to go purchase a frosty treat.
7. Today is our first ASB meeting. All Cougar Academy representatives need to check in with their Cougar Academy teacher and go straight to the cafeteria for the meeting.
Friday Riddle: Which question can you never answer "yes" to?
Let's make it a great day and continue to display kindness and respect toward all members of our school community!
