1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Monday, October 28th. We continue through the month of October recognizing and growing in our Disability Awareness and Bullying Prevention. This is a time for our school and district to increase understanding, respect, and acceptance of people with disabilities and continue to work toward prevention efforts connected to harassment, intimidation, and bullying. It is crucial to use our words to build each other up, to be inclusive of students with disabilities, and to support a school culture centered on belonging. It is also important to remember that we all have a role to play. Harassment, intimidation, and bullying are not tolerated and it is crucial to report these situations to teachers, counselors, or administrators. You can fill out an incident report in the office, send an email, or report verbally, but the key is that if you see something, say something. Let's continue to band together to create a school culture we can be proud of and that celebrates our uniqueness and diversity.
2. Keep walking right and talking right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Cell phones and wireless earbuds should be stored away and out of sight. Backpacks need to be stored in your locker and get to class on time. Please remember that 4th-period classes are in session after 1st lunch and before 2nd lunch, so please make a quiet transition. Bring your student ID to lunch and scan in to ensure the lunch line moves as quickly as possible.
3. There is a lunch survey in grade-level schoology folders this week. Please complete this one question survey so our amazing nutrition services team can plan for students that will be purchasing a grab n' go lunch each day during conference week.
4. As we near the end of the first quarter, remember that Cougar Catch-Up happens every Tuesday and Thursday with Mrs. Kaiser. Also, it is never too late to join a club. You can get registration forms in the main office. You do not need to register for Cougar Catch-Up.
5. This week you will be taking the Panorama Survey in your Cougar Academy. We take this survey twice a year to capture student voice as it relates to your school experience and sense of belonging. Please answer the questions fully and based on your first instinct. You don't need to spend more than 10 seconds on each question.
6. Buckle up you Ghouls and Goblins, our Harvest Time Social is coming up on Thursday, October 31st from 3:00-4:30 pm. The social will have music, snacks, games, and plenty of tricks and treats to get you in the spooky spirit. The pricing info for tickets will be in the commons, and tickets are available for purchase during lunch and honor time. Presale tickets will be $3 with ASB and $4 without. Tickets purchased at the social will be $5 If you are unable to pay for a ticket to the social but want to attend, please ask Ms. Janice for financial assistance. Remember that you may not leave campus and then return for the social. Thursday will also be a KPMS Spirit Day. Students are welcome to wear costumes and want to be clear about expectations. No gore, blood, or violent outfits. No masks. No weapons or weapon-like accessories. Costumes must not be offensive or inappropriate. Costumes should not be disruptive, meaning they should not prevent the wearer or others from seeing, hearing, or moving safely. Dress code rules still apply.
7. This Friday we will be having our first quarter Awards and Recognition Spirit Assembly. This is a team to recognize the academic and extracurricular efforts of our students throughout the first quarter, Thank you to the ASB/Leadership students that have been thoughtfully planning the assembly. Please exhibit expected assembly behavior so you are not removed from the assembly.
Let's make it a great day and continue to display kindness and respect toward all members of our school community!
