1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Friday, January 17th. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day and keep getting to class on time, with your materials, and your backpacks stored in your locker. Thanks for exhibiting expected behavior and contributing positively to a school community we can be proud of. Remember that words matter and character counts!
2. Last night's District Choir Festival was a great success. The KPMS Choir dazzled the crowd and put on an outstanding performance along with the other middle schools and high schools. Thank you again to Mrs. Webb and the KPMS Choir for your hard work and dedication.
3. This is a reminder that there will be Girls Basketball practice today after school.
4. Today is Freaky Friday! Great job in stepping into the spirit!
5. Today at the end of 1st period, we will be recognizing Martin Luther King Jr.'s work toward racial justice and equality. We will honor Dr. King at an all-school assembly after 1st period. There is no Cougar Academy and students should report to their 1st period class at the start of the day. Please exhibit expected behavior, following staff directions, and engage with all student and staff speakers. Remember there is no school on Monday to honor and remember Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. Mr. Rivera's Cougar Academy students need to report to the gym by 8:45 am for the assembly.
6. Our winter iReady Math test is coming this coming Tuesday. Remember to give your best effort as we use the data to inform scheduling decisions regarding support and intervention classes. Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook and wired headphones or earbuds. Let's show some pride in our learning efforts this year and make things a little competitive. Any Cougar Academy that has every student with a fully charged Chromebook and wired headphones will receive 5 Cougar Pride points per student. Mr. G made a slight adjustment and we are going to reward the top 30 students at EACH grade level that show the highest growth with a Cougar Academy Donut Extravaganza in the commons during Cougar Academy. Let's continue to fully engage with teaching and learning while taking a growth minded approach into every new learning experience.
