1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Thursday, March 20th. We continue to recognize and celebrate Women's History Month throughout March. Let’s take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and appreciate the impact of women past and present! Today we recognize Misty Copeland who is a trailblazing ballet dancer who became the first African American principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. She continues to inspire young dancers everywhere.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day and keep getting to class on time, with your materials, and your backpacks stored in your locker. Thanks for exhibiting expected behavior and contributing positively to a school community we can be proud of.
3. Please continue to take pride in our new building. Thank you to the 95% that use the bathroom and other space appropriately. Please continue to report acts of vandalism right away. You can fill out an incident report or email Ms. Kinney or Mr. G.
4. Drama club is canceled today.
5. Girls soccer and boys basketball take on the Roadrunners at Goodman. We are proud of the effort put in so far this season and are excited to see the grit and perseverance of our student athletes on full display today. Go Cougs!
6. Tomorrow morning during Cougar Academy, we will hold the Donut Extravaganza for our top 30 8th grade students showing the most growth on iReady so far this year. Teachers, please send the identified students to the commons right after you take attendance.
7. PSD is excited to host the first annual Young Artist and Authors Showcase. This is an opportunity open to all middle school students in the district to express their creativity through the theme, "Friendship: The Heartbeat of Global Peace". This year's theme highlights the power of friendship to foster understanding, collaboration, and peace across borders. We will continue to communicate the details and posters will be on display around the school. Submissions will be accepted in various mediums, including: visual arts, essays, poetry, and music. Your submission can be turned into your Art, ELA teachers, the main office, or an administrator up until April 11th. Submissions will be on display through May 2nd and be judged by district administrators and school board members in the library to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize winners. Let's show off our creativity and promote friendship, understanding, collaboration, and peace!
