1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Tuesday, May 20th…Throughout the month of May, we continue to recognize Asian-Pacific Islander American History and Mental Health Awareness. Today, we highlight Patsy Mink, the first woman of color elected to Congress and a champion for Title IX, which gave more equal opportunities in education and sports. Her legacy continues to support students to this day.
2. Please remember to use the bathrooms for their intended purpose and take pride in our building. Please walk and use a level one volume when speaking in the hallways to create a safe and calming environment. Please show respect to staff, guest teachers, and peers to uphold the dignity of others and our school environment. Please publicly display your affection for others outside of school to cultivate a professional work environment. Remember, as we move into the final stretch and enjoy end-of-year festivities after SBA testing, participation isn't guaranteed. Expected behavior will be your ticket to participating in the festivities. We will be holding our 8th-grade ceremony, dance/social on June 17th, starting at 6pm at KPMS. We will be holding our KPMS field day for all students that are eligible on June 18th with the inflatable dance dome, inflatable obstacle course, games, prizes, and food.
3. Please reflect on the decisions you make daily and go out of your way to show respect for yourself, others, and our building. Acts of vandalism cost time and money and show a lack of respect for our staff and school community. Thank you to the 95% of you that are doing the right thing and going about things in the right way. It takes all of us to cooperate and build a culture that doesn't encourage this unexpected behavior. You can report unexpected behaviors like vaping, harassment, or vandalism simply by emailing Mrs. Kinney or Mr. G. You will remain anonymous and will support a culture that builds a school reputation we can be proud of.
4. The District Championship Track Meet is this Wednesday at PHS starting at 3:30 pm. Join us to cheer on our student athletes as they display their effort and skill against the Roadrunners, Falcons, and Coyotes. Go Cougs!
5. This is a reminder that we are operating on the B schedule today. 8th graders are taking the Science SBA test in their Science classes. Please be extra quiet in the hallways throughout the day as our 8th graders test and students complete makeup testing. Let's finish the testing season strong and continue to engage in learning as we head into the final stretch of the year.
