1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Thursday, May 29th…Throughout the month of May, we continue to recognize Asian-Pacific Islander American History and Mental Health Awareness. Today's Mental health tip: Be kind to yourself. Notice your self-talk. Would you say those things to a friend? If not, try speaking to yourself with more kindness and patience.
2. Remember as we move into the final stretch and enjoy end-of-year festivities, participation isn't guaranteed. Expected behavior will be your ticket to participating in the festivities. We will be holding our 8th grade ceremony, dance/social on June 17th starting at 6pm at KPMS. We will be holding our KPMS field day for all students that are eligible on June 18th with the inflatable dance dome, inflatable obstacle course, games, prizes, and food.
3. This is a reminder that KPMS is a hate-free environment where all people, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability are respected and celebrated. Thank you for developing a sense of belonging for all and for developing an inclusive culture. Remember that words matter and character counts!
4. The POC club meets today after school. Please meet in the Commons. The last POC club meeting for this year will be next Thursday, June 5th.
5. Impact testing for incoming freshman football players starts today from 3:30 to 5 pm. There will be an activity bus for this. KPMS players will ride bus 109. This bus loads right after school, and leaves at the same time as the other buses. If you don't hustle out, you will miss this bus. Please note that this will be your PERMANENT BUS for the duration of spring football at PHS.
6. Opening night for Forgiven: A FairyTale is tonight. There are three showings you can attend. Thursday, May 29th at 4:30 pm, Friday, May 30th at 6:30 pm, and Saturday, May 31st at 2 pm. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults. Come on out to be dazzled by our amazing Drama Club!
7. Attention all 8th Graders…Permission slips for Peninsula Preview need to be signed ASAP. They've been sent via ParentSquare and one more reminder will be sent out today. If a permission slip is not turned in, you will not be able to attend. This is an amazing opportunity to get acquainted with PHS students, staff, and your Harbor Ridge peeps that will be joining you next year as you move on to high school. Also, permission slips for the JA field trip next Thursday and Friday are going out today via ParentSquare. Permission slips for PSD and Junior Achievement, along with all required lessons you've been working on in your math class, need to be completed to attend. This is a great opportunity to get some real-world experience around personal financial management in an engaging way, along with putting your math skills to work. Get it done!
