Announcements 10/3

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Friday, October 3rd. As we continue recognizing and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, did you know that many Hispanic artists have created some of the world’s most famous murals? Diego Rivera’s paintings tell the story of history, workers, and culture. As we begin marching into the month of October, we recognize Bullying Prevention and Awareness and Disability History & Awareness Month. We will take time to continue to communicate the important characteristics of being an Upstander and to honor, respect, and celebrate people with disabilities while building understanding across our school community. Small actions build community. If you see someone sitting alone at lunch, invite them to join you.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. Please use your Chromebook for its intended purpose and know that your activity is monitored at the building and district level. Let's go out of our way to display kindness and respect to develop a sense of belonging for ALL!
3. Cross Country had an amazing meet yesterday. Every runner has a new PR for the season, and the 6th-grade girls took 3rd place, beating Harbor Ridge in their division. Seven of this year's runners have made their mark on the KP Record Books. For the boys, Tucker Harding has taken the top spot as fastest boy (beating his own brother for that spot), and Aiden Stinson has joined the ranks as 9th fastest boy in the last 8 years at KPMS. For the girls, Stella Harding remains the fastest girl for KPMS but is joined by Alston Gjerston as second, Fiona Hanson as third, Hattie Wyrick as fifth, and Joelle Morris as 7th fastest girls in the last 8 years of KPMS female runners. This team runs with heart, gives it their all, and continues to get faster each week. Go Cougs!
4. Remember that every Friday is Cougar Pride Day. Wear your Red, White, and Grey and show off that Cougar Pride. If you missed the September window to purchase Cougar Spirit Wear, we will open up the online store again in November, so don't fret.
