Announcements 11/12

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Wednesday, November 12th. We continue marching into Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. This is a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across the United States. Did you know that art is a very important way Indigenous peoples express culture and identity? From beadwork and weaving to carving and painting, each piece often tells a story about family, community, or the natural world.
2. We want to continue to review and highlight a few specific expectations.
a. Backpacks, cinch bags, purses, etc., are to be stored in your locker. This should be a daily habit. Teachers, thank you for remaining consistent with this building commitment and thank you to students for exhibiting expected behavior and having just your binder and Chromebook in class.
b. Please chew gum outside of school. Scraping gum from furniture or the floor takes extra time and means that routine cleaning can't happen efficiently.
c. Please clean up after yourself at breakfast and lunch. It is your responsibility to throw your garbage away and clean up spills or messes that may have occurred.
d. Please charge your Chromebook nightly and bring your fully charged Chromebook to class daily.
e. Please remember that every student has the right to a free, public education, free from disruptions/distractions of learning and instruction.
f. Please respect and follow staff directions in the moment, and if you'd like to follow up to share perspective or context, it should be done at the end of class, but not during instruction.
Our student advisory council, your peers, along with staff desire a school community we can take PRIDE in and it takes each one of us to contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive school and classroom culture. Remember that words matter and character counts!
3. We want to shoutout and thank Mrs. Dykman, Mrs. Welander, and our ASB leaders for planning an amazing Veterans Day assembly on Monday. Their thoughtful planning made for a reflective and memorable assembly to honor Veterans within our community along with the opportunity to learn about their experiences and what Veterans Day means to each of them.
4. We have our first choir concert of the year coming up tomorrow night from 6:30-7:30 pm at KPMS. Come on out and enjoy the opportunity to witness the effort and skill of our amazing KPMS Choir.
