1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Monday, November 17th. We continue marching into Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. This is a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across the United States. Did you know that Powwows are community celebrations where people gather to dance, sing, and honor culture. They are welcoming spaces for Native and non-Native people to come together in friendship and respect.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. Remember to stay within your personal bubble, keeping your hands and feet to yourself. It takes all of us to ensure an inclusive school community where everyone can thrive socially and academically. Remember that words matter and character counts!
3. Shoutout to our People of Color Club for the kind and encouraging notes they wrote and shared around the building last week, celebrating World Kindness Day! Today, we will be focusing on gratitude and taking a moment to reflect and write notes of gratitude to staff members throughout our KPMS school community. Taking a moment to appreciate the people around us helps us feel happier and more connected. Gratitude reminds others that they matter and helps build a positive, supportive school community. So today, take a second to say ‘thank you’ to a staff member who’s made your school days a little brighter.
4. Our second sense of belonging survey is available all this week. Please complete this short, five-question survey to help us understand the school experience from the student lens. This should take 2-3 minutes and helps our staff learn and grow in developing a sense of belonging for each and every student.
5. The wrestling season kicks off tomorrow. Our student-athletes will be traveling to Kopachuck to take on the Coyotes. We are so proud of all of the athletes and coaches who have been putting in the work to represent Cougar Nation proudly!
6. Spirit week is on! Today is PJ day, tomorrow is favorite color day, Wednesday is sports day, Thursday is twin day, and Friday is Cougar Pride Day. Get your swag ready and show off that Cougar PRIDE!
