FALL 2022 UPDATE

KPMS believes that interscholastic sports and activities promote sportsmanship and citizenship. The athletic/activity programs instill pride in school, community, teach lessons for life, self discipline, and develops students physically and emotionally.

Activities/athletics are an extension of a solid educational program. Research shows that students who participate in activities/athletics tend to maintain higher grade point averages, better attendance, and fewer discipline problems.

FEES:

SPORTS RELATED FEES FOR 2022/23:

  • Pay to Play for each sport TBD
  • $20 for ASB Card purchase
  • Sports Physical fee varies. They are good for 2 years and are required for participation.

PHYSICAL:

Any student wanting to participate in a school sport must have a current Sports Physical (forms may vary) on file here at KPMS. These physicals are done by a physician and are good for 24 months so if your student has participated in a sport in the past 24 months they do not need to be re-examined. Your family doctor may perform these exams or they are offered by the following local business(es). (Cost for these exams may vary so please remember to ask before you commit).

  • Community Health Care Key Medical Clinic (Not the Key Peninsula Health Center) – Sports Physicals are offered at no out of pocket cost to students through the age of 18 on limited days and times. Parent/guardian must register the student as a Community Health Care patient to receive services, but they may continue to see their preferred primary care provider. Students must wear shorts. Please call 253-884-9221 to confirm days and times available for sports physicals.

REGISTER FOR ATHLETICS AT :

Register your athlete on Parent Portal:  https://www.psd401.net/parent-portal

You can now register your student for athletic activities through your parent portal. When you log in to your Parent Portal, you will see a new link at the bottom of the left column for athletics. Be sure you are logging in with your parent credentials as students do not have access to this registration process in their portal.  Also, you will need to use a desktop computer or other similar device, not the PowerSchool app on a phone.

In the athletics section, please make sure you first complete the medical information update:

The medical information update will require you to upload your student’s physical form as well as complete the section for medical insurance. This form will pull your medical information from within PowerSchool if you have already submitted it to Key Peninsula Middle School.

Once the medical information has been entered, you can select which sport your student would like to register for. The online registration system for each sport is open until about 2 days prior to the start of that sport’s season, so check the calendar above to view each season’s dates.  Next, you will be required to agree to all legal agreements associated with participating in district athletic activities.

This will complete the registration process and your student will be ready to participate in athletics at Key Peninsula Middle School. Before the start of the season we will verify that all required  paperwork has been submitted.

If you have any questions about this new process, please contact us at 253.530.4200
