WELCOME BACK, COUGARS!

Dear KPMS Families,

Welcome back to an exciting new academic year at KPMS! We hope this message finds you filled with anticipation and enthusiasm for the adventures that lie ahead. As we embark on this journey together, we want to extend our warmest greetings and express our deep commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence and a strong sense of belonging for all our students.

First and foremost, we are thrilled to have our students return to the bustling hallways and vibrant classrooms of our beloved middle school. As we near the end of our school’s modernization, we are grateful to have opened so many newly renovated spaces to best support students and rebrand our KPMS school community. Our new administrative team is working collaboratively with a terrific team of new and existing staff to ensure we provide students with the best opportunity to develop their curiosity and sense of belonging within our school culture. We firmly believe that this pivotal phase in their educational journey is an opportunity for growth, discovery, and empowerment. It is our shared vision to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Academic excellence is at the heart of our mission, and we are dedicated to providing an exceptional education that equips our students with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to thrive academically and beyond. Our highly qualified and passionate team of educators is committed to delivering engaging and rigorous instruction, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. We believe in fostering a love for learning, encouraging critical thinking, and nurturing a growth mindset that will serve our students well throughout their lives.

Equally important is the sense of belonging that we strive to cultivate within our school’s culture. We firmly believe that a strong sense of connection and inclusivity is the cornerstone of a thriving educational environment. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where every student feels seen, heard, and respected. Our school is a place where diversity is celebrated, and individual voices are embraced. Through our various clubs, organizations, and extracurricular activities, we aim to provide opportunities for students to explore their passions, discover new interests, and form meaningful friendships.

We understand that transitioning to middle school can be both exciting and challenging, not only for students but for families as well. Rest assured that we are here to support you every step of the way. Our dedicated staff is available to answer any questions, address concerns, and collaborate with you to ensure a successful and fulfilling experience for your child.

As we embark on this new academic year together, let us embrace the spirit of collaboration, partnership, and mutual respect. We look forward to working closely with you to create an educational journey that prepares our students for a bright and promising future. Together, we can achieve greatness and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Respectfully,

Luke Grunberg (Principal) Kim Kinney (Assistant Principal)

  • NEWS

Don't forget about sports physicals!  Girls' Volleyball, Boys' Soccer and Cross Country are the first sports of the year!

  • We will be working on student schedules all summer to have them ready before the start of school. We understand that there are times when students may be able to view their schedules online prior to them being finalized and released. What you see prior to that date may change as we continue working on proper placement.

****We won't be able to accommodate changes to elective classes****

If you are missing a class or were placed in the wrong grade level course,  you may contact your counselor for information on schedule change requests. You will be notified by email of the status of the change and you should continue to follow your class schedule as shown in your portal until notified.

  • We are excited to see our Cougars at KPMS on September 3rd!

Before the first day of school, here are some important items students will want to know in advance:

    • School starts at 8:15 and ends at 2:45 (9:15 - 2:45 on Wednesdays)

    • Your 4th period class determines what lunch you have. Check the lunch schedule posted on this page once that is available
    • Know your address and parent phone numbers - it helps to write this info down also in case your phone battery dies during the school day
    • Know your bus number - go to this webpage to find your bus information. Write it down!
    • Know your locker number and combination (you can find this in your portal and it will be printed on your schedule)
    • *Important: please do not use stickers or markers on your locker to decorate!
      • only use removable accessories and decorations for your locker
      • do not share your locker with anyone
      • do not share your locker combination with anyone
      • lockers have attached locks, you do not need to bring your own lock
    • Know your after school plan to get home - bus or parent pick-up, make sure you know before you get to school every morning! We are not able to get last minute reminder messages to students during the school day, please review your plan each morning if necessary
    • Don't come to school if you are not feeling well, and check in with our Health Room if you feel unwell during the school day
    • Charge your Chromebook overnight so it's fully charged for school each day
    • You should bring a refillable water bottle - we have a water bottle filling station and drinking fountains can be found around the building as well
