Welcome Back to the 2025–2026 School Year!

KPMS Families,

It is with great excitement and anticipation that we welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Key Peninsula Middle School! Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are so glad you are part of our Cougar family. At KPMS, we believe in the incredible potential of every student, and we are committed to creating a school community where we inspire and empower every child, every day

As we begin this new year together, we remain grounded in our Cougar Core Values of PRIDE: Perseverance, Responsibility, Integrity, Dignity, and Excellence. These values are more than just words; they guide the way we learn, lead, and support one another. Each day, our team works tirelessly to model and instill these values in every student, shaping not only their academic experience but their growth as respectful, caring, and capable young people.

We know that strong schools are built on strong relationships, and family partnership is essential to our success. Your support, encouragement, and engagement help create the kind of learning environment where students thrive. We are deeply committed to building bridges between school and home, and we strive to keep communication open, honest, and student-centered, so that together, we can wrap around each child and support them on their unique learning journey.

We’re excited to kick off the school year with several important events and opportunities for families and students to connect:

  • Health Clinic | August 29, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Our on-site health clinic will be available to provide immunizations and other back-to-school services. This is a great opportunity to make sure your child is ready for a healthy start to the year.

  • Cougar Connect Day | September 2
A welcoming event for students and families to get ready for the year ahead. Students will receive their schedules and lockers, meet staff, tour the building, and explore available community and family resources.

    • 6th Graders: Drop in anytime between 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

    • 7th & 8th Graders: Drop in anytime between 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

  • Open House | September 16, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Come walk the halls, connect with teachers, and see what your child will be learning this year. This is a wonderful chance to build relationships and deepen your connection to our school community.

  • School Picture Day | September 19 (During the School Day)
Get those smiles ready! All students will have their school picture taken for IDs and yearbooks.

As we step into this new year, we are filled with hope and purpose. Our students are capable of incredible things, and together, with a united school and family team, we will support them in becoming the best version of themselves. Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your unwavering belief in what we can accomplish when we work together.

Here’s to a fantastic school year filled with growth, learning, and Cougar PRIDE!

Respectfully,

Luke, Kim, and the KPMS Team

  • We will be working on student schedules all summer to have them ready before the start of school. We understand that there are times when students may be able to view their schedules online prior to them being finalized and released. What you see prior to that date may change as we continue working on proper placement.

****We won't be able to accommodate changes to elective classes****

If you are missing a class or were placed in the wrong grade level course,  you may contact your counselor for information on schedule change requests. You will be notified by email of the status of the change and you should continue to follow your class schedule as shown in your portal until notified.

  • We are excited to see our Cougars at KPMS

    on

    Wednesday, September 3rd

Before the first day of school, here are some important items students will want to know in advance:

    • School starts at 8:15 and ends at 2:45 (9:15 - 2:45 on Wednesdays)
    • Know your student ID number
    • Know your portal username and password - if you are brand new to our district, you will be able to get that from our librarian on your first day
    • Know your schedule - check it in your portal the night before school in case changes have been made, and it helps to print a copy or write it down or have a photo of it on your phone for reference
    • Your 4th-period class determines what lunch you have. Check the lunch schedule posted on this page once that is available
    • Know your address and parent phone numbers - it helps to write this info down also in case your phone battery dies during the school day
    • Know your bus number - go to this webpage to find your bus information. Write it down!
    • Know your locker number and combination (you can find this in your portal and it will be printed on your schedule)
    • *Important: please do not use stickers or markers on your locker to decorate!
      • only use removable accessories and decorations for your locker
      • do not share your locker with anyone
      • do not share your locker combination with anyone
      • lockers have attached locks, you do not need to bring your own lock
    • Know your after-school plan to get home - bus or parent pick-up, make sure you know before you get to school every morning! We are not able to get last-minute reminder messages to students during the school day. Please review your plan each morning if necessary
    • Don't come to school if you are not feeling well, and check in with our Health Room if you feel unwell during the school day
    • Charge your Chromebook overnight so it's fully charged for school each day
    • You should bring a refillable water bottle - we have a water bottle filling station and drinking fountains can be found around the building as well
    • Mrs. is the counselor for students with last names A - L, and Mr. Sarsfield is the counselor for students with last names M - Z
