2/4/25
1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Tuesday, February 4th. Today marks the start of Black History Month, a time to celebrate and honor the incredible contributions of Black leaders, innovators, and changemakers throughout history. Today, we celebrate Carter G. Woodson, known as the 'Father of Black History.' He founded Negro History Week in 1926, which later became Black History Month. Woodson believed understanding history was key to building a better future!
2. As we begin the second semester, please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day and keep getting to class on time, with your materials, and your backpacks stored in your locker. Thanks for exhibiting expected behavior and contributing positively to a school community we can be proud of.
3. Also, please remember that KPMS is a hate free environment where all people, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national origin or ancestry, are respected and celebrated. Thank you for continuing to promote a culture of inclusion and belonging. Words matter and character counts!
4. This week we celebrate our School Counselors, our Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Speech/Language Pathologist, and our School Psychologist. Thank you to Mrs. McCabe, Mr. Sarsfield, Mrs. Buechel, Mrs. Laurila, and Mrs. Bonner. Take a moment to share your gratitude for all that they do each and every day!
5. The Lady Cougs take on the Falcons at Harbor Ridge today. All afternoon sports and clubs are running as normal. Let's continue to encourage the Lady Cougs as they continue to represent Cougar Nation proud!
6. Also, if you are interested in being part of the set or costume crew for the spring play, please pick up a form from Mrs. Gregory or Ms. Jaime in the main office.
7. Girls soccer and boys basketball begins February 24th right after mid-winter break. Get signed up ASAP and ensure all of the necessary registration forms are complete. Registration is open now, don't delay.
8. Valentine pops are being sold each day at the bookkeeper's window for $1. You can purchase them for anyone you choose, including yourself. They will be delivered on February 14th. Also, please continue to line up in an orderly fashion at the student store when purchasing items while being patient and polite. Water will have a .25 cent charge after the first one and will not be handed out at all if the PTSA receives further incident reports of unexpected behavior relating to the water bottles.
