1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Thursday, September 18th. As we continue recognizing and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize Dr. Ellen Ochoa who was the first Hispanic woman to travel into space in 1993. She later became the Director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Today, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, it is important to remember that friends look out for each other. If you notice a friend struggling, let them know you care and encourage them to talk with a trusted adult.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. This is a reminder that gum should be left at home and is not for school. Also, thank you to those who have emailed Mrs. Kinney and me about observed acts of vandalism. It takes our entire school community to build a culture of PRIDE in our school and facilities. Please do not intentionally vandalize our school, and if something accidentally breaks, please report it right away so we can get it fixed.
3. Please remember that KPMS is a hate-free environment where all people, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability, are respected and celebrated. Thank you for developing a sense of belonging for all and for developing an inclusive culture. Let's continue to go out of our way to be inclusive, kind, and supportive all year long. Remember, words matter and character counts.
4. KPMS Clubs are rolling. You can get permission slips in the main office if you would like to participate in a club. Board game club starts today, Cooking Club starts on Wednesday, October 8th, and STEAM Club will be starting in October as well. Cougar Catch-Up starts next Tuesday and is available by drop-in every Tuesday and Thursday. Mr. Cobb will be supporting students who need a quiet place to complete missing assignments or get academic support. We are awaiting a couple of other start dates and are still looking for advisors for some of our ASB Clubs from last year. Clubs are a great way to get connected and participate in your interests with your peers.
5. Picture day is tomorrow. Bring your best smile and be ready to head to the library with your Social Studies teacher to get your picture taken.
6. Starting this Friday…. Wear your red, white, and grey and show that Cougar Pride (school spirit)?
