1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Wednesday, September 24t.h As we continue recognizing and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, did you know that Hispanic inventors have changed the world! Guillermo González Camarena from Mexico invented the color TV system when he was only 23 years old. Today, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, it is important to remember that kind words can brighten someone's whole day. Kindness matters more than you know. A small act of kindness, like a smile or a compliment, can completely change how someone feels. You might not realize how much your words and actions can help someone who's struggling. Today, look for a way to spread kindness!
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. This is a reminder that gum should be left at home and is not for school. Also, thank you to those who have emailed Mrs. Kinney and me about observed acts of vandalism. It takes our entire school community to build a culture of PRIDE in our school and facilities. Please do not intentionally vandalize our school, and if something accidentally breaks, please report it right away so we can get it fixed.
3. We are excited to announce that the Young Authors' Showcase is coming up on October 18th from 9 am - 1pm at Goodman Middle School. This is an opportunity open to all middle school students, 6th - 8th grade, and will have interactive workshops with local authors, panels on the creative writing process, book sales and signings, and writing activities and creative challenges. Registration is open, and a link was included in our weekly newsletter to families.
4. Remember that clubs are in full swing. This is a reminder that you must have a permission slip on file to join a club and pay for your ASB fee. If you need financial support, please reach out to your counselor, and we'll make it happen. Remember that Art Club is every Tuesday, Board Game Club is on Thursdays. Cooking Club and STEM Club will start up in October. Also, anyone can drop in every Tuesday and Thursday for Cougar Catch-Up with Mr. Cobb...you do not need a permission slip or ASB fee to participate in Cougar Catch-Up.
5. Our Cougar Volleyballs are heading to Kopachuck and Harbor Ridge tonight for the Volleyball Jamboree. The 8th-grade team is at Harbor Ridge, and the 7th-grade team is at Kopachuck starting at 6 pm. Come on out and cheer on our amazing student athletes. Go Cougs!
