1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Friday, September 26th. As we continue recognizing and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, did you know that music superstar Selena Quintanilla, known as the ‘Queen of Tejano Music,’ inspired millions with her voice, fashion, and connection to fans.
Today, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, it is important to remember that when things feel heavy, take it one step at a time. Break tasks into smaller pieces and give yourself credit for the progress you make.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. This is a reminder that gum should be left at home and is not for school. Also, thank you to those who have emailed Mrs. Kinney and me about observed acts of vandalism. It takes our entire school community to build a culture of PRIDE in our school and facilities. Please do not intentionally vandalize our school, and if something accidentally breaks, please report it right away so we can get it fixed.
3. Our Cougar Cross Country team showed great effort and sportsmanship yesterday at the first meet of the year. They established personal records to grow and improve upon throughout the season. We are so proud of their effort and the way they represented Cougar Nation. Go Cougs!
4. Attention all Cougars interested in wrestling. Registration is now open, so if you are a 6th, 7th, or 8th-grade student with any interest, please go to our school website to sign up and make sure you have all the necessary forms completed. Wrestling is open to students of all genders, and no prior wrestling experience is required. Go Cougs!
5. This is a reminder that we have our first fire drill of the year today at 10:45 am. Our emergency drills are designed to ensure we are prepared for an actual emergency, if one happens. Please follow all staff directions, remain at a level 0 volume, and ensure we are prepared and know what to do in case of an emergency.
6. It is Frosty Friday! Please know what you want to purchase when you are in line and have your money ready to hand over. The more prepared we are, the quicker the line moves, so everyone can have the opportunity to purchase a frosty treat if they so desire.
7. Remember that the first ASB Student Council meeting is happening in the commons right after announcements. All Cougar Academy reps and alternates should be in the commons now.
8. Attendance update
