Announcements 10/6

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Monday, October 6th. As we continue recognizing and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, did you know that Latin music has won dozens of Grammy Awards? Artists like Bad Bunny, Shakira, and J Balvin continue to influence global music charts.
As we begin marching into the month of October, we recognize Bullying Prevention and Awareness and Disability History & Awareness Month. We will take time to continue to communicate the important characteristics of being an Upstander and to honor, respect, and celebrate people with disabilities while building understanding across our school community. Words have power. Use your words to encourage others, not to tear them down. Words matter, and character counts.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. Please use your Chromebook for its intended purpose and know that your activity is monitored at the building and district level. Let's go out of our way to display kindness and respect to develop a sense of belonging for ALL!
3. This week in Cougar Academy, all students will have the opportunity to complete the KPMS Sense of Belonging survey for the month of September. It is a short 5-question survey that will take less than 5 minutes. Please complete this so we can continue to capture your voice as students and develop strategies to ensure that ALL students feel seen, safe, and supported.
4. Today, after school, our volleyball and soccer teams have their first home game of the season against the Coyotes of Kopachuck. We are excited to cheer on the continued effort, growth, and skill of our student athletes. Go Cougs!
