Announcements 10/14

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Tuesday, October 14th. As we continue recognizing and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, did you know that Rita Moreno is one of only a few people ever to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. She’s an inspiring Puerto Rican actress, singer, and dancer whose career has lasted over 70 years!
As we dive deeper into October, we recognize Bullying Prevention and Awareness and Disability History & Awareness Month. We will take time to continue to communicate the important characteristics of being an Upstander and to honor, respect, and celebrate people with disabilities while building understanding across our school community. It's important to remember that respect is for everyone. Include classmates in games, projects, and conversations, even if they’re not your close friends. Let’s continue to support each other and make KPMS a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and cared for.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. Remember to stay within your personal bubble, keeping your hands and feet to yourself. This is a reminder to enjoy your gum outside of school. Mr. McQueen is having to spend extra time with limited resources, scraping up gum. Get it together, Cougs.
3. This week is Nutrition Service Recognition and Celebration week. Take a moment to let our amazing nutrition services team know how much they are appreciated. This week and all weeks moving forward, show our team respect, say please and thank you, and acknowledge the hard work and effort they put in every day to ensure we have quality meals at school.
4. Do you have an interest in joining this year's ASB as a grade-level representative? Applications are now available in the main office. Completed applications are due Friday, October 17th, and voting for grade level reps will occur at the end of the month. There is room for 2 per grade level to join our current ASB officers. Any questions, please see Mrs. Dykman or Mrs. Welander.
