Announcements 10/15

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Wednesday, October 15th. Today marks the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month. Over the past month, we’ve celebrated the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. As we wrap up, let’s remember that celebrating culture doesn’t end today. It’s something we can do all year long by showing curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the many traditions that make our school and world so vibrant. Thank you for joining in the celebration, and let’s keep honoring and uplifting all voices at KPMS.
As we dive deeper into October, we recognize Bullying Prevention and Awareness and Disability History & Awareness Month. We will take time to continue to communicate the important characteristics of being an Upstander and to honor, respect, and celebrate people with disabilities while building understanding across our school community. It's important to remember kindness can spread just as quickly as negativity. Be the reason someone feels welcome today. Let’s continue to support each other and make KPMS a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and cared for.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. Remember to stay within your personal bubble, keeping your hands and feet to yourself. This is a reminder to enjoy your gum outside of school. Mr. McQueen is having to spend extra time with limited resources, scraping up gum. Get it together, Cougs.
3. This week is Nutrition Service Recognition and Celebration week. Take a moment to let our amazing nutrition services team know how much they are appreciated. This week and all weeks moving forward, show our team respect, say please and thank you, and acknowledge the hard work and effort Ms. Janel and Ms. Teri put in every day to ensure we have quality meals at school.
4. Do you have an interest in joining this year's ASB as a grade-level representative? Applications are now available in the main office. Completed applications are due Friday, October 17t,h and voting for grade level reps will occur at the end of the month. There is room for 2 per grade level to join our current ASB officers. Any questions, please see Mrs. Dykman or Mrs. Welander.
5. As club participation grows, we are continuing to seek participation in STEM Club with Mr. Minnery every Tuesday and Thursday. The People of Color Club meets tomorrow and every Thursday and is open to all students.
