Announcements 11/4

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Tuesday, November 4th. November is Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. This is a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across the United States. This month, we’ll highlight stories, traditions, and achievements that remind us how deeply Native communities have shaped our country and our region. Did you know there are 29 federally recognized tribes in Washington State? Each has its own unique history, language, and traditions. Together, they continue to keep their cultures strong while contributing to our state’s vibrant identity.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls. Keep cell phones and wireless HEADPHONES and earbuds stored away and out of sight for the entirety of the school day. Remember to stay within your personal bubble, keeping your hands and feet to yourself. It takes all of us to ensure an inclusive school community where everyone can thrive socially and academically. Remember that words matter and character counts!
3. This week, we recognize and celebrate the work of school psychologists throughout the district. A school psychologist's expertise, care, and collaboration make such a difference in supporting students’ learning, behavior, and emotional well-being. From evaluations and interventions to problem-solving with teams and families, they play a vital role in creating supportive school environments where all students can thrive. Shoutout to Mrs. Bonner for the work she does to support students and our school community.
4. The wrestling season is on! All registered wrestlers with all registration forms completed should meet their coaches in the main gym after school. Remember that you must have all registration forms complete with signatures to participate today. We are excited to get the season underway and cheer on our student athletes!
5. The PSD District Band Festival is tonight @ Gig Harbor High School starting at 7pm. Some of our band students will be joining forces with bands across the district to share their hard work and skills with the community. Come on out and enjoy the show!
6. The end of Quarter 1 is this Thursday. Most student schedules will stay the same, but some schedules will be adjusted based on need. Your counselor will connect with you if your schedule is changing. The first day of Quarter 2 begins this Friday. Keep working hard toward your academic goals and engage fully to maximize your potential!
7. Remember that attendance matters! We will be celebrating the grade level with the highest average attendance rate for Quarter 1 this Friday during Cougar Academy. The winning grade level will be announced on Wednesday of this week.
