Announcements 1/12

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Monday, January 12th. Keep walking right and talking right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls, keep your hands and feet to yourself, keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds away, and show respect for yourself, your peers, and our amazing KPMS staff. Remember that it takes all of us to ensure an inclusive, safe, and respectful school community where everyone can thrive socially and academically. Words matter, and character counts!
2. As we approach MLK Jr. Day this coming Monday, please engage with the learning around the impact of Dr. King's work and put the common themes of love, inclusion, and celebration of our unique differences as a community into action.
3. New club alert! Debate club will be starting up next Wednesday, January 14th. Come on out and enjoy building your persuasion and presentation skills. This club is open to all students, and students will need their own transportation as the club meets on Wednesdays. Make sure to pick up a permission slip in the main office and get your parent/guardian's signature to attend. Thank you to Mrs. Swainston for advising and for the students that advocated and provided leadership in establishing this amazing club!
4. This is a reminder that the winter iReady math and reading testing is tomorrow. We will operate on our iReady testing schedule just like in the fall with lunches based on your 3rd period teacher. Remember to bring your fully charged chromebook, give your best effort, and to be a problem solver. This data will show the effort, perseverance, and engagement of the first semester of learning. We will include the top 10 students that have shown the most growth from fall to winter for math and reading from each grade level in our grade level attendance reward coming up at the end of the semester. Let's finish the semester strong and keep leaning into each day with intentionality, focus, and a growth mindset in all we do!
