Announcements 1/23

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Friday, January 23rd. Keep walking right and talking right while speaking at a level 1 volume in the halls, keep your hands and feet to yourself, keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds away, and show respect for yourself, your peers, and our amazing KPMS staff. The student store will be closed today during first lunch. Although we've made growth, we aren't quite there in regard to remaining seated in the cafeteria and being at a level 1 volume as we transition from honor time back into the building and to class. We will reflect after today's lunch on whether Friday will be frosty.
2. Please take a moment to reflect and remember that words hold power. KPMS is a hate-free environment where all people, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability, are respected and celebrated. Thank you for developing a sense of belonging for all and for developing an inclusive culture. It takes all of us to ensure an inclusive school community where everyone can thrive socially and academically. Remember that words matter and character counts!
3. Last night, our KPMS Choir collaborated beautifully with the other PSD secondary schools. The time and effort they put in should be celebrated, and a huge thank you to those who came out to show support for our amazing Choir.
4. Our Lady Cougars left it all out on the court last night. They earned their first win of the season with a 34–31 victory in a close, hard-fought game against Kopa. The team showed strong defense and solid ball handling throughout. Shelby Powers led the team in scoring, making three free throws, while Michelle Gamble followed with the second-most baskets. Dylann Lohrey recorded three steals and the team’s only three-pointer. Additional highlights include three rebounds by Scarlett Bows, strong defensive efforts from Rockee Barney and Ava Bray, and a score and steal from Maddyson Nieman without committing a foul. Congratulations to the Lady Cougars on a great win!
5. We want to shoutout and celebrate our band and choir students who were chosen to perform in the Commencement Bay M.E.A. Honor Choir and Honor Band. :)
