Announcements 2/4
1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Wednesday, February 4th. February is Black History Month, a time to recognize, honor, and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. Did you know that Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and then risked her life to help others gain freedom through the Underground Railroad? She led more than 70 people to safety and showed what true bravery looks like.
2. Please take a moment to reflect and remember that words hold power. KPMS is a hate-free environment, and any form of discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated and will result in corrective action. Please go out of your way to be an upstander and address or report discriminatory language or behavior if you witness it. It takes our entire school community to stand up to discrimination and to develop a safe and inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
3. The student store is open again today! We are hopeful students will continue following lunch expectations by remaining seated at a level 1 volume, throwing garbage away and being responsible for cleaning up any accidental spills, exhibiting expected behavior during honor time, and transitioning to class after lunch by walking to the right and talking at a level 1 volume. Make it happen, remind your peers, and show respect for our common spaces and school environment. We believe in you!
4. This week is National School Counselors Week. Take a moment to thank Mrs. More and Mr. Sarsfield for their hard work, dedication, and support that they provide daily to students, staff, and our school community. We are grateful for the role they play in supporting Cougar success!
5. The Lady Cougars gave their all last night and represented Cougar Nation proudly! They pulled off a close win, and it is clear that they've been putting in the work during practice and have developed their skills and athletic prowess along the way. We are so proud of their effort and grit so far this season. Go Cougs!
6. Last night, our KPMS Jazz Band jazzed it up at the PSD Jazz Festival. They performed beautifully with all secondary Jazz Bands within the Peninsula School District and showed off the time and effort they've been putting in so far this year. Keep up the great work, Jazz Band!
7. Remember that Debate Club is canceled today.
