Announcements 2/5

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Thursday, February 5th. February is Black History Month, a time to recognize, honor, and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. Did you know that Frederick Douglass believed education was the path to freedom? He taught himself to read and later became one of the most powerful voices for justice and equality in American history.
2. Please take a moment to reflect and remember that words hold power. KPMS is a hate-free environment and any form of discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated and will result in corrective action. Please go out of your way to be an upstander and address or report discriminatory language or behavior if you witness it. It takes our entire school community to stand up to discrimination and to develop a safe and inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
3. The student store is open again today! We are hopeful students will continue following lunch expectations by remaining seated at a level 1 volume, throwing garbage away and being responsible for cleaning up any accidental spills, exhibiting expected behavior during honor time, and transitioning to class after lunch by walking to the right and talking at a level 1 volume. Make it happen, remind your peers, and show respect for our common spaces and school environment. We believe in you!
4. The Lady Cougars have an away game at Goodman today! We send them off with our full support and Cougar PRIDE...Go Cougs!
5. As the champions of the quarter three attendance competition, we invite all 7th graders to the commons for your reward after announcements and attendance. Great job attending daily, and a reminder to all grade levels that the quarter three competition is on.
