Announcements 2/13

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Friday, February 13th. As we lean into Black History Month, remember this is a time to recognize, honor, and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. Did you know that Black history is about community? People supporting each other, sharing knowledge, and building strength together even during difficult times.
2. Please take a moment to reflect and remember that words hold power. KPMS is a hate-free environment, and any form of discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated and will result in corrective action. Please go out of your way to be an upstander and address or report discriminatory language or behavior if you witness it. It takes our entire school community to stand up to discrimination and to develop a safe and inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
3. The student store is _________ at lunch and we are hopeful students will continue following lunch expectations by remaining seated at a level 1 volume, throwing garbage away and being responsible for cleaning up any accidental spills, exhibiting expected behavior during honor time, and transitioning to class after lunch by walking to the right and talking at a level 1 volume. This is also a reminder that Chromebooks are the property of the Peninsula School District and acts of destruction or vandalism come with a cost and corrective action. Please exhibit expected behavior and remind your peers to show respect for our learning materials, common spaces, and school environment. We believe in you!
4. Interested in participating in this year’s Culinary Star Recipe Competition hosted by Aramark and Chef Tracy? It’s a fun way to show off your creativity and recipe development skills. Entering in the competition is simple – just ask your school’s cafeteria for an entry form today!
5. The Lady Cougars finished off the season in style at the district tourney last night. The growth they've made throughout the season was evident in their play. The way the team has come together around a common goal and displayed sportsmanship throughout the season should be celebrated. Great job, Lady Cougs...we are so proud of you!
6. A huge shoutout to all staff and students who made yesterday's social possible. Your time and effort are so appreciated, and we are grateful for the work you do to create opportunities for Cougar Nation to connect outside of the school day!
