1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Tuesday, February 24th. As we wrap up Black History Month this week, let's remember to recognize, honor, and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans beyond February. Let's remember that learning Black history helps us grow empathy, the ability to understand someone else’s story and treat people with care and respect. We are grateful to our POC Club for organizing our Black History Month Assembly occurring tomorrow afternoon. This is a formal assembly with a performance from our band/choir along with presentations from students and a guest speaker. Please follow formal assembly expectations and engage with this opportunity to learn and celebrate Black History.
2. The student store is open at lunch and we are hopeful students will continue following lunch expectations by remaining seated at a level 1 volume, throwing garbage away and being responsible for cleaning up any accidental spills, exhibiting expected behavior during honor time, and transitioning to class after lunch by walking to the right and talking at a level 1 volume. This is also a reminder that chromebooks are the property of the Peninsula School District and acts of destruction or vandalism come with a cost and corrective action. Please exhibit expected behavior and remind your peers to show respect for our learning materials, common spaces, and school environment. We believe in you!
3. Remember that all students in grades 6-12 are invited to participate in this year’s "PSDs Greatest Donut" competition. We can’t wait to see the creative recipes. Recipe submissions are due February 27th. Rules and entry forms can be picked up from our kitchen staff at breakfast or lunch. One winner will be selected based on creativity and incorporation of healthy ingredients and will win the title of Peninsula School District's Culinary Star!
4. KPMS GUESS WHO is on! This is a school-wide guessing game going on this week. You submit 3 clear details and 2–3 vague clues about yourself — (all things anyone at KPMS could recognize just by seeing you). This information is then turned into a mystery slide for everyone else to guess who you are. Fill out the Google form in your grade level Schoology page.
5. Remember that it is never too late to join a club. The Debate Club is looking to beef up its membership. Remember to pick up a permission slip in the main office if you are interested. Come on out and build friendships with your peers around common interests!
6. We are excited to get the boys' basketball and girls' soccer season underway starting tomorrow after school. Student athletes must have all permissions and forms completed in FinalForms to be cleared to participate tomorrow.
