Announcements 2/25

1. Good morning, Cougs! Today is Wednesday, February 25th. As we wrap up Black History Month this week, let's remember that courage isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s choosing what’s right, helping a friend, or standing up for someone who needs support. At KPMS, Black History Month reminds us that everyone deserves to feel valued and included. Belonging makes learning stronger and communities better. Celebrating Black history doesn’t stop at the end of February. We honor it by listening, learning, and treating others with dignity every single day.
We are grateful to our POC Club for organizing our Black History Month Assembly, occurring this afternoon. This is a formal assembly with a performance from our band/choir, along with presentations from students and a guest speaker. Please follow formal assembly expectations and engage with this opportunity to learn and celebrate Black History.
2. The student store is open at lunch, and we are hopeful students will continue following lunch expectations by remaining seated at a level 1 volume, throwing garbage away, and being responsible for cleaning up any accidental spills, exhibiting expected behavior during honor time, and transitioning to class after lunch by walking to the right and talking at a level 1 volume. This is also a reminder that Chromebooks are the property of the Peninsula School District, and acts of destruction or vandalism come with a cost and corrective action. Please exhibit expected behavior and remind your peers to show respect for our learning materials, common spaces, and school environment. We believe in you!
3. Registration for the 26/27 school year is rapidly approaching and will happen next week. We will be conducting grade-level assemblies to talk about registration and the process. Current 7th graders will join us during CA tomorrow, and current 6th graders will join us during CA on Friday. Current 8th graders will be receiving information on registering for high school during CA on Monday. Also, special attention to any 8th graders who are planning to attend Gig Harbor HS next year, please let your counselor know, and they will send registration paperwork home and help you select classes if you have any questions.
4. The boys' basketball and girls' soccer season starts today. We are excited to get the season rolling and cheer on our student athletes!
