Announcements 4/22

1. Good morning, Cougs...Happy Earth Day on this Wednesday, April 22nd. In the spirit of Earth Day and continuing to recognize the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of students whose families serve in the military, here is a fun fact that you may not be aware of. Did you know that the dandelion is often used as a symbol for military families? Like the dandelion, military kids are incredibly resilient. Dandelions can grow and thrive almost anywhere, even in challenging conditions, and in the same way, military-connected students adapt, grow, and succeed no matter where they are planted. This symbol reminds us of the perseverance, strength, and courage it takes to navigate change, new schools, and time away from loved ones. Today, let’s honor our military students and families by recognizing the incredible resilience they show every day and by continuing to build a school where they feel valued, supported, and that they truly belong.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is open today, so keep taking responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
3. Remember that if you are interested in stepping into the role of an ASB elected leader for next year to pick up the application in the main office this week!
4. The Peninsula School District is holding a Special Olympics Unified Soccer Event on Saturday, May 2nd at Peninsula High School's Roy Anderson Field. Unified Athletics is an inclusive program from Special Olympics that joins people with and without intellectual disabilities. The focus is on friendship, equality, and competition to foster inclusion. We are looking for students interested in greeting teams as they arrive, participating in cheering sections, assisting with set-up and clean-up, and helping decorate the stadium to build a fun, inclusive atmosphere. There is a short survey/application in the grade-level Schoology pages if you are interested in supporting this amazing event.
