Announcements 4/23

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Thursday, April 23rd. We continue to recognize the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of students whose families serve in the military and have special guest Paxton Beckett in the house to share a bit about his experience. My Dad is in the Navy, and we've lived in Italy prior to coming back to the KP. I've learned a lot about other cultures and ways of living, along with enjoying the amazing food from Italian culture... Don't forget to pull all of the purple out of your wardrobe in recognition and support of students from military families!
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is closed today, so be sure to take responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
3. Remember that if you are interested in stepping into the role of an ASB elected leader for next year, pick up the application in the main office this week!
4. The Peninsula School District is holding a Special Olympics Unified Soccer Event on Saturday, May 2nd at Peninsula High School's Roy Anderson Field. Unified Athletics is an inclusive program from Special Olympics that joins people with and without intellectual disabilities. The focus is on friendship, equality, and competition to foster inclusion. We are looking for students interested in greeting teams as they arrive, participating in cheering sections, assisting with set-up and clean-up, and helping decorate the stadium to build a fun, inclusive atmosphere. There is a short survey/application in the grade-level Schoology pages if you are interested in supporting this amazing event.
5. Testing season is upon us and those who have not completed the i-Ready Reading from Tuesday will have time today and tomorrow in CA to finish. Scores are coming in, and we are so proud of the effort and growth we are seeing in so many students. Please continue to give your absolute best and show the growth you've made so far this year. Remember that we use this data to make scheduling decisions for next year regarding advanced placement and support classes to ensure students are placed correctly. The more accurate the data, the more likely your schedule will accurately reflect where you should be as we create your 26/27 school year schedule.
