Announcements 5/1

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Friday, May 1st. Although the formal recognition of the month of the military child has wrapped up, it is important to continue recognizing and supporting students whose parents serve in the military. Continue to show kindness, be inclusive, and be supportive of each other to create a sense of belonging for all.
2. Today is School Lunch Hero Day. We are so grateful for the dedication our nutrition services team brings to their work each day in providing a welcoming, healthy, and positive school community. Give our nutrition services staff an extra special thank you as you make your way through the lunch line today.
3. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. It will be a Frosty Friday for both lunches, so continue to take responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
4. The Special Olympics Unified Soccer Event is tomorrow at Peninsula High School's Roy Anderson Field. There is a short application that is in the grade-level Schoology folders if you are interested in volunteering at this amazing event. Remember that middle schoolers must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at the event.
5. You have time in Cougar Academy today to finish up your iReady assessment if you haven't finished. If you are done, please complete our May Sense of Belonging survey in your grade level Schoology folder. The survey takes about 2-3 minutes and provides our team with valuable data to support growth in ensuring all students feel connected and that they belong as a part of Cougar Nation.
6. This is a reminder that we will begin state testing next week. We will be running the same bell schedule on Tuesday and Thursday that we have for iReady testing with lunches based on your 3rd period teacher. Tuesday will be the ELA PT Test and Thursday will be the ELA CAT Test. Be prepared with a fully charged chromebook, get a good night's sleep, eat a protein packed breakfast, and be a persevering problem solver. Mr. G is throwing in the following incentives. If as a school, we improve our overall proficient percentage by 3% a grade level representative will get to pie me in the face at our final assembly with no protective coverings. If we increase by 6% we will provide ice cream for all students again and if we improve by 9% the student body will vote for Mr. G's fit for the last day of school. Give your best and don't stress!
