Announcements 5/5

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Tuesday, May 5th. Happy Cinco De Mayo! This is a day we recognize and honor Mexican heritage and culture, specifically commemorating the Mexican army's victory at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is open today so continue to take responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. This is a reminder that your toys should remain in your locker or toy box at home. This was shared with families on Friday, and it is expected that you engage in learning and leave toys, stuffed animals, etc. at home. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
3. Remember to take the time and a special way to thank your teachers and our staff this week during Teacher Appreciation Week. Sharing how your teachers and staff have impacted you goes a long way and reminds us of why we do this work and the importance of it.
4. The final opportunity to purchase a yearbook is now. Yearbooks are on sale for $35 online. You can also bring cash or a check and pay our bookkeeper directly. Shoutout to Mr. Miller and the Yearbook class for making this year's yearbook unforgettable.
5. Today is day one of SBA! We will be running the same bell schedule today and Thursday that we have for iReady testing, with lunches based on your 3rd-period teacher. Today is the ELA PT Test, and Thursday will be the ELA CAT Test. Remember that if, as a school, we improve our overall Math and ELA proficiency percentage by 3% a grade level representative will get to pie me in the face at our final assembly with no protective coverings. If we increase by 6%, we will provide ice cream for all students again, and if we improve by 9%, the student body will vote for Mr. G's fit for the last day of school. Give your best and don't stress!
