Announcements 5/6

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Wednesday, May 6th. May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This month, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of AAPI communities that have shaped our country and our world. The term AAPI includes people with roots in many regions, including East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Each culture brings unique traditions and perspectives that strengthen our communities.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is open today so continue to take responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. This is a reminder that your toys should remain in your locker or toy box at home. This was shared with families on Friday, and it is expected that you engage in learning and leave toys, stuffed animals, etc. at home. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
3. Find a special way to thank your teachers and our staff this week during Teacher Appreciation Week. Sharing how your teachers and the staff have impacted you goes a long way and reminds us of why we do this work and the lasting impact it has.
4. The final opportunity to purchase a yearbook is now. Yearbooks are on sale for $35 online. You can also bring cash or a check and pay our bookkeeper directly. Shoutout to Mr. Miller and the Yearbook class for making this year's yearbook unforgettable.
5. Tomorrow is day two of SBA! We will be running the same bell schedule as yesterday, with lunches based on your 3rd-period teacher. Tomorrow will be the ELA CAT Test, and if you haven't finished the Performance Task from yesterday, you will have time to complete it once you finish the CAT. Remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook and to get a good night's rest and a balanced breakfast. Remember that if, as a school, we improve our overall Math and ELA proficiency percentage by 3%, a grade level representative will get to pie me in the face at our final assembly with no protective coverings. If we increase by 6% we will provide ice cream for all students again, and if we improve by 9%, the student body will vote for Mr. G's fit for the last day of school. Give your best and don't stress!
