Announcements 5/7

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Thursday, May 7th. This month, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of AAPI communities that have shaped our country and our world. Today we honor Patsy Mink, the first woman of color elected to the United States Congress and a strong advocate for educational equity.
2. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is open today, so continue to take responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. This is a reminder that your toys should remain in your locker or toy box at home. This was shared with families on Friday, and it is expected that you engage in learning and leave toys, stuffed animals, etc., at home. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
3. A huge shoutout to Cougar Track for an amazing meet yesterday. So many athletes show great effort, grit, and sportsmanship as they set a baseline for personal bests that they will be sure to crush as the season goes along. Thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who made the event run smoothly and memorable for all. Our next home meet is next Wednesday, and we can't wait to watch Cougar Nation against Kopachuck.
4. Today is day two of SBA! We will be running the same testing bell schedule with lunches based on your 3rd-period teacher. If you haven't finished the Performance Task from Tuesday, you will have time to complete it once you finish the CAT. Remember that if as a school, we improve our overall Math and ELA proficiency percentage by 3% a grade level representative will get to pie me in the face at our final assembly with no protective coverings. If we increase by 6% we will provide ice cream for all students again, and if we improve by 9%, the student body will vote for Mr. G's fit for the last day of school. Give your best and don't stress!
