Announcements 5/13

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Wednesday, March 13th. This month, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of AAPI communities that have shaped our country and our world. Many AAPI leaders have helped shape civil rights and social justice movements, working toward equality and opportunity for all. We recognize Fred Korematsu, who courageously challenged the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II.
2. Please take a moment to reflect and remember that words hold power. KPMS is a hate-free environment, and any form of discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated and will result in corrective action. Please go out of your way to be an upstander and address or report discriminatory language or behavior if you witness it. It takes our entire school community to stand up to discrimination and to develop a safe and inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
3. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is open, so continue to take responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean, socializing at a level 1 volume, staying seated until released for honor time, and transitioning from honor time to class at a level 1 volume. This is a reminder that your toys should remain at home or in your locker. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
4. Today is our final home track meet of the season against Kopachuck. We are excited to see our student athletes perform and get after the personal records they started out with at last week's meet. Thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who make for a smooth and exciting meet. Go Cougs!
5. Tomorrow marks day four of SBA! We will be running the same testing bell schedule with lunches based on your 3rd-period teacher. Tomorrow we will take the Math CAT Test, and you will be able to complete any of the three previous tests that you have not completed. Remember that if, as a school, we improve our overall Math and ELA proficiency percentage by 3% a grade level representative will get to pie me in the face at our final assembly with no protective coverings. If we increase by 6%, we will provide ice cream for all students again, and if we improve by 9%, the student body will vote for Mr. G's fit for the last day of school. Give your best and don't stress!
