Announcements 5/14

1. Good morning, Cougs...today is Thursday, MAY 14th. Did you know that May is also Mental Health Awareness Month? Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. One simple strategy for today: pause and take three deep breaths whenever you feel stressed or overwhelmed.
2. Please take a moment to reflect and remember that words hold power. KPMS is a hate-free environment and any form of discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated and will result in corrective action. Please go out of your way to be an upstander and address or report discriminatory language or behavior if you witness it. It takes our entire school community to stand up to discrimination and to develop a safe and inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
3. Please continue to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The student store is open today, but it will not be a Frosty Friday for 1st lunch this Friday. Remind your peers and model the expectations of keeping voices to a level one, walking in from honor time and to class, and taking responsibility for keeping the cafeteria clean. This is a reminder that your toys should remain at home or in your locker. Also, please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away. Make it happen, Cougs!
4. Yesterday was our final home track meet of the season against Kopachuck. Our student athletes and coaches represented Cougar Nation proudly for sure. There were a ton of personal records made and wins across the board. Thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who make for a smooth and exciting meet. Go Cougs!
5. Today marks day four of SBA! We will be running the same testing bell schedule with lunches based on your 3rd-period teacher. Today, we will take the Math CAT Test and you will be able to complete any of the three previous tests that you have not completed. Remember that if, as a school, we improve our overall Math and ELA proficiency percentage by 3% a grade level representative will get to pie me in the face at our final assembly with no protective coverings. If we increase by 6%, we will provide ice cream for all students again, and if we improve by 9%, the student body will vote for Mr. G's fit for the last day of school. Give your best and don't stress!
