Announcements 9/14

1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Monday, September 14th. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. This month, we will be sharing small ways to build a school culture where everyone belongs while feeling seen and supported. An inclusive school culture starts with belonging: take time today to learn one new thing about a peer that you don't usually talk to or invite someone to sit with you at lunch.
2. Please remember to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. Please throw garbage away, remain seated in the cafeteria, and walk to honor time quietly as our band class is in session. Please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away and out of sight. Remember that MacBooks are the property of the Peninsula School District and you need to bring them charged everyday and take care of them as fines will be assessed. Any unpaid fines will keep you from participating in extracurricular activities.
3. This week we will be taking the iReady Reading test in ELA classes. Please give your best effort and make sure to bring your fully charged MacBook and the wired earbuds provided this year. The data is used to determine scheduling decisions and is crucial in helping teachers know how to support you as the year progresses.
4. Nutrition services will begin selling a la carte items after lunch service starting today. You will use your lunch number the same way you purchase lunch and must have money on your account in order to purchase.
5. Tomorrow night is Open House from 6-7:30pm. Please use the template provided today or that was sent to your parent/guardian to ensure they have you schedule so they know what classes to attend during Open House. This is a great opportunity for parents/guardians to meet your teachers and get a taste of what your middle school day entails.
