Announcements 9/17
1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Thursday, September 17th. We continue recognizing suicide prevention month throughout September and are sharing small ways to build a school culture where everyone belongs. Remember to listen without immediately problem-solving. This lets someone feel heard first. Sometimes that's the most protective thing we can do.
2. Please remember to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. Please throw garbage away, remain seated in the cafeteria, and walk to honor time quietly as our band class is in session. Please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away and out of sight. Remember that MacBooks are the property of the Peninsula School District and you need to bring them charged everyday and take care of them as fines will be assessed. Any unpaid fines will keep you from participating in extracurricular activities.
The PBIS store will be available to pick up items that you've purchased before school and during lunch starting on Wednesday, September 30th. It will be open on Wednesday and Thursday the first week and then will be open on Wednesdays every week. You will line up and pick up your items at the bookkeepers window in the commons. Keep exhibiting expected behavior and earning those Cougar PRIDE points!
3. Please continue giving your best effort as we wrap up the iReady Reading assessment. Next week you will be taking the iReady Math assessment so make sure to continue bringing your fully charged MacBook and the wired earbuds provided this year. The data is used to determine scheduling decisions and is crucial in helping teachers know how to support you as the year progresses.
4. Some clubs are starting up next week. Remember to get your permission slip in the main office.
- Art Club begins on Tuesday, September 22nd.
- Game Club and POC Club begin on Thursday, September 24th.
- Makers Club begins on Tuesday, September 29th.
- Cooking Club via zoom begins on Tuesday, October 13th.
Also, Cougar Catch-Up will begin next Tuesday and be available every Tuesday and Thursday. This is an opportunity to have a quiet space to get caught up on missing assignments or extra help from Mrs. Banken. Following expectations and using Cougar Catch-Up for its intended purpose will ensure you are able to continue attending.
For all after school clubs, please meet your advisor in the commons after school. We will continue to share dates of clubs as they start up over the next couple of weeks.
5. Fish Bowl is coming up this Saturday at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma. Gates will open at 4pm and the game starts at 5pm. Please follow expectations so you can remain at the game.
- All middle school students must be accompanied by an adult.
- You are there to watch the game and loitering at the concession stand or outside of the stands is prohibited.
- Show positive sportsmanship and cheer on the Seahawks!
- Have fun, be safe, and enjoy this fantastic PSD tradition!
