Announcements 9/29
1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Tuesday, September 29th. We begin celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month which runs through October 15th. During this time we celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Did you know? Spanish is spoken by more than 559 million people worldwide, and the United States has one of the largest Spanish-speaking populations of any country.
Also, did you know that tomorrow, September 30, we recognize Orange Shirt Day. Wear an orange shirt to help us remember Indigenous children who were separated from their families and communities through the boarding school system and to show that every child matters.
2. Please remember to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. Keep up the great work during lunches. Please continue to keep your cell phones and wireless headphones/earbuds stored away and out of sight.
3. Remember that this week is Maintenance, Grounds, Custodians, and Warehouse Staff appreciation week. A huge shoutout to Ms. Shaina and our custodial crew for all of the hard work they do each and every day to ensure we can enjoy a clean and vibrant learning environment. Share your gratitude with a thank you this week.
4. This is a reminder that we have Cougar Catch-Up and Makers Club today after school. Also, POC Club is moving to Wednesdays and will have their second meeting on October 7th. Remember to complete and turn in your permission slip and meet your club advisor in the commons after school if you are participating in a club.
5. A message from our ASB...we will be having spirit weeks throughout the year to show off your school pride, but want to encourage all students and staff to wear college and career swag every Wednesday and your Cougar threads with red, white, and grey for Cougar Pride Day every Friday!
6. Lastly, we have our first Fire Drill of the year today at 10:45 during the start of 3rd period. Please follow all expectations and directions from staff and remain at a level 0 volume for the entirety of the drill. Emergency preparedness drills are practices to ensure that we are prepared if an emergency were to happen.
