Announcements 9/30
1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Wednesday, September 30th. Today we wear orange to remember Indigenous children who were taken from their families and communities and sent to boarding schools in the United States and Canada. These schools separated children from their families, cultures, languages, and communities. The orange shirt became a symbol of remembrance after Phyllis Webstad shared her experience of having her new orange shirt taken from her when she arrived at a residential school in Canada. Today, wearing orange is one way to remember, learn, and show that every child matters. Thank you, Cougars, for helping us recognize this important history and honor Indigenous children, families, and communities.
2. Please remember to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. The lunch room is being left about 85% clean and remaining seated is taking multiple redirects and reminders. We have high expectations and know you are capable of meeting them. We will pause on Frosty Friday this week and will monitor behavior to see if we can celebrate next Friday.
3. Teachers, please review fire drill expectations again with students. A level 0 sounds like this... communication is crucial when attending to an emergency and our drills are an important part of making sure we are prepared in the event of a real emergency. We know you are capable of improving and look forward to an excellent approach during our next emergency preparedness drill.
4. A message from our ASB...we will be having spirit weeks throughout the year to show off your school pride, but want to encourage all students and staff to wear college and career swag every Wednesday and your Cougar threads with red, white, and grey for Cougar Pride Day every Friday!
