Announcements 10/6
1. Good morning Cougs! Today is Tuesday, October 6th. As we continue into Hispanic Heritage Month we celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Did you know that Ellen Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to travel to space, flying aboard the space shuttle in 1993. Also, a shoutout to Hispanic and Latino scientists and innovators like chemist Mario Molina, who won a Nobel Prize for his research on the ozone layer.
2. Please remember to walk right and talk right while keeping to a level 1 volume and staying within your personal bubble. We will continue to monitor lunch and hallway behavior to determine if it will be frosty this Friday. Please remember that words hold power and that it is the impact of your words, not the intent that matters.
3. Our fall athletic season marches on as our volleyball and soccer teams took on the Falcons of Harbor Ridge yesterday. Both teams displayed amazing effort, grit, and sportsmanship throughout the matches and we are so proud of the way they represented Cougar Nation. Our volleyball team showed teamwork, positivity, effort, and support that made them shine! Our serving was on point, with a team percentage of 70% on target. Serving shout outs to Ella, Eva, and Zoey; while McKenzie, Hattie, Fiona, and Sirena had great hustle and defense! Amazing job overall to our girls, Coach Dez is very proud of you! We have our first home matches of the season tomorrow against Kopachuck. Please remember that if you are staying to watch our student athletes you must remain on campus, be at the field or in the stands in the gym, and are expected to show positive sportsmanship by cheering for our team and not against the other team. Failure to follow these expectations will result in not being allowed to attend future athletic events.
Also, all those interested in wrestling should get registered now. Get the process started and ensure you have all forms submitted so you are ready for the first day of practice. Go Cougs!
